Butler Center panel to focus on ‘Enabling Conversations about Inclusion'

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence is inviting the campus community to the panel session "Enabling Conversations about Inclusion" on Nov. 21.

The panel session will focus on enabling conversations to facilitate inclusion of people with different experiences that may be based on gender/gender expression, race/ethnicity, sexual identity, class, ability, or other differences. The speakers will discuss how working together as allies is key for social and institutional transformation and facilitate scholarly productivity. The speakers on this panel will address questions such as: What do you want in a colleague? How can you be an ally when you are a bystander? How can conversations be enabled to avoid conflicts?

The panel session is scheduled for noon-1:30 p.m. at Dauch Alumni Center. Lunch will be provided. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend. Registration is required and can be completed online.

The speakers are Chardie Baird, associate professor of sociology and executive director of the Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering at Kansas State University, and Christine Kiracofe, associate professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Purdue.
