Youth cooking classes for the Purdue community

Children can learn hands-on how fun and easy cooking can be during Saturday classes this fall in the Demonstration Kitchen at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center (the Co-Rec). Participants will make delicious recipes in a safe and fun environment, and taste everything along the way. The classes teach valuable knowledge and life skills, including basic culinary skills, food safety information and how to make healthy food choices.

Each class is offered at two times by age levels:
* Ages 5-8: class at 10-11 a.m.
* Ages 9-12: class at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Sept. 21 — Visit Venezuela
Empanadas, Arroz con Leche, La Tizana (traditional fruit punch)

Nov. 9 — Tex-Mex Fusion
Homemade Tortillas with taco meat, corn salsa, agua de fresca (fruit drink)

Dec. 7 – Travel to Thailand
Pad Thai, Bubble Tea, Fruit Spring Rolls

A child is eligible if the child's family is affiliated with Purdue. Membership at the center is not required, but eligibility for membership is. Sign-up should be done in advance at the Member Services desk or by calling 765-494-3109 or online, and registration must be made by the Friday before each session. The cost is $10 per session.
