Student submissions wanted for AI video contest

In celebration of Purdue’s 150th anniversary celebration, a creative video/animation contest involving artificial intelligence will take place to consider how AI will influence language and culture.

The contest is open for all current Purdue students on the West Lafayette campus. The entries should be two to three minutes in length. Questions to address in the entries may include, but are not limited to:

* How will AI influence language learning and communication in the future?

* What if human communication were no longer verbal?

* What if speaking another language included a simple upload?

The contest is organized by Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts, School of Languages and Cultures, Purdue Polytechnic Institute and College of Engineering. Faculty experts from the academic units represented will judge the video submissions. There will be a first- and second-prize winner for both the undergraduate student entries and graduate student entries. First-place winners will receive $300 and second-place winners will receive $200.

Videos should be uploaded to YouTube and a link should be sent to AIcontest@purdue.edu along with the student’s name, field of study, and classification at Purdue. The deadline for submission is Sept. 9 and winners will be announced Sept. 25.
