Space available for S.A.F.E. training for women

The Purdue University Police Department is offering a Self-Defense Awareness and Familiarization Exchange training session at 9-11:30 a.m. July 20 at the Purdue Police Department at 205 S. Martin Jischke Drive.

The S.A.F.E. training is an introduction to women’s self-defense and lasts two and a half hours. The program consists of a safety talk and awareness session and an introduction to basic physical defense tactics. 

The program is free of charge. The minimum age for participants is 13, and women of all physical abilities are encouraged to attend. Affiliation with Purdue is not required to register, and participants will be registered in the order in which requests are received. Athletic style clothing is recommended, and shorts are not permitted.  

To register yourself and/or another woman for one of the sessions, contact Lt. Sarah Sheppard at sasheppard@purdue.edu and indicate the preferred session.
