Purdue Press announces new season of books

Purdue University Press has announced 15 new books being produced as part of its Fall/Winter 2019-20 season. The full catalog can be accessed here.

Highlights include a collection of letters curated from the Purdue Archives by James R. Hansen in "Dear Neil Armstrong: Letters to the First Man From All Mankind"; an updated edition of "Wings of Their Dreams: Purdue in Flight" by John Norberg, detailing the history of Purdue in flight and space and providing biographies of all Purdue astronauts; and a photo book titled "Memories of Life on the Farm: Through the Lens of Pioneer Photographer J.C. Allen" by Fred Whitford and Neal Harmeyer that for the first time collects many photographs taken across campus and the Midwest.

Several scholarly titles will be released, focused on Central European studies, comparative cultural studies, and information literacy, respectively: “Jan Hus: The Life and Death of a Preacher; Nimble Tongues: Studies in Literary Translingualism”; "Imagining Afghanistan: Global Fiction and Film of the 9/11 Wars"; and “Transforming Acquisitions and Collection Services: Perspectives on Collaboration Within and Across Libraries.”

Purdue Pressalso will publish new edited collections in three of its annual series: “President Trump’s First Term: The Year in C-SPAN Archives Research, Volume 5”; “New Perspectives on Kristallnacht: After 80 Years, the Nazi Pogrom in Global Comparison”; and “Next Year in Jerusalem: Exile and Return in Jewish History.” Also to be released is new book — “Galápagos: Imaginarios y Evolución Textual en las Islas Encantadas” — in the Purdue Studies in Romance Literatures series, a partnership between the Press and School of Languages and Cultures, which goes back decades.

Two biographies round out the list, a reprint of “In My Mother’s House: A Daughter’s Story” and "Eva and Otto: Resistance, Refugees, and Love in the Time of Hitler."
