Beth Ford has plenty of colleagues at Purdue when it comes to envisioning and making something new. Her leadership of Land O’Lakes Inc. is in part about new steps in sustainability and new and varied uses for artificial intelligence. On Tuesday (Sept. 17), “A Conversation with Beth Ford,” led by Jayson Lusk, distinguished professor and head in Agricultural Economics, will depict how new tools and new situations become new opportunities. The event is part of Purdue’s Giant Leaps Series, which continues to bring speakers whose ideas frame a vision of the future. Don’t Miss It!

“A Conversation with Beth Ford” will feature the president and CEO of Land O’Lakes Inc. in an interview with Jayson Lusk, distinguished professor and head in the Department of Agricultural Economics. This event is part of the Giant Leaps Series, part of Purdue's yearlong 150th year celebration. SEPTEMBER 20

A pair of exhibitions will open at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, prepared in conjunction with Purdue’s Black Cultural Center. The two are “Black American Voices: Featuring the Zamora Collection” and “My View from Seven Feet: Paintings by Joe Barry Carroll.” Both will run Sept. 20-Dec. 1. The museum is at 102 S. 10th St., Lafayette, and its hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. daily except major holidays. BCC | Museum

"These Shining Lives" by Melanie Marnich is Purdue Theatre’s season opener, directed by Emily A. Rollie, assistant professor of theatre arts at Central Washington University, guest director. The drama is based on a true story: women working with radium in a watch company become ill, sue the company and develop solidarity. 7:30 p.m. Pao Hall, Nancy T. Hansen Theatre. The Amelia Earhart Aerospace Summit will bring people with interest in aerospace careers from around the country. “What IF the Next Pandemic is Inevitable?” will shed light on a dark-sounding topic. A pair of events will feature Gina Kolata, author of “Flu: The Story of the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918.” She will speak at 10:30 a.m.-noon in STEW, Loeb Playhouse. Then she will join in a panel of Purdue experts to discuss vaccination at 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Lynn Hall, Room 1136.
