Grad students, postdocs invited to workshop on scholarship of engagement

The Office of Engagement on April 23 will host a workshop titled "What is the Scholarship of Engagement?" for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The workshop will take place at 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Wilmeth Active Learning Center, Room 1018.

Land-grant universities have three missions -- learning, discovery and engagement. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars are frequently trained in learning and discovery, but what about engagement programming? What is it? How to implement it? Possible careers? How it could benefit work as a future faculty member?

Steve Abel, associate provost for engagement; Rod Williams, engagement faculty fellow; and Rebecca Koetz, project coordinator in the Department of Forestry and National Resources, will host the interactive workshop to help graduate students and postdoctoral scholars gain an understanding for engagement and provide important tools for its significant implementation.

This event is free and lunch will be provided. Additional information and registration is available online.

Questions can be directed to Rod Williams at rodw@purdue.edu or Lisa Duncan at llduncan@purdue.edu.
