Two alumnae to be honored as Distinguished Women Scholars

Two Purdue alumnae from two colleges will be recognized as 2019 Distinguished Women Scholars for their exceptional leadership and significant contributions to their fields.

The Office of the Provost and the Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence will honor the alumnae during an award reception at 4 p.m. April 3 in Purdue Memorial Union, West Faculty Lounge. Awards will be presented by Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity.

The two 2019 awardees, who graduated in the College of Health and Human Sciences and the College of Science, respectively, are:

* Karyl A. Rickard, who earned her PhD in food and nutrition in 1978 from the Department of Foods and Nutrition. She is professor emerita of nutrition and dietetics in Indiana University’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and School of Medicine.

* Katherine E. Yutzey, who earned her PhD in biology in 1992 from the Department of Biological Sciences. She is currently professor of molecular cardiovascular biology at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
