Purdue's 2018 highlights captured on video
The major happenings at Purdue University during 2018 are highlighted in the 64th edition of the Office of Marketing and Media's Year in Review video, formerly the Newsreel.
Titled "Sesquicentennial Celebration," the almost nine-minute program can be viewed on the Purdue YouTube Channel.
The 2018 Year in Review was produced and directed by Ray Cubberley, broadcast media senior producer in Marketing and Media, and is narrated by Kristin Malavenda, communications director for the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Highlights in the 2018 Year in Review include Giant Leaps 150th Celebration, Ideas Festival, crowning of Homecoming royalty, Homecoming parade, dedications of the "Forge" statue and new animal sciences complex, research partnerships with USAID and an area of Peru, Center for Brain-inspired Computing Enabling Autonomous Intelligence, Purdue’s new master plan, Glee Club's 125th anniversary, 30th anniversary of the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest's, Boiler Gold Rush, record enrollment, Guinness World Records for whistle blowing and assembling the periodic table, Purdue's seventh straight year of freezing tuition, fundraising records, Purdue University Dance Marathon, Tyler Trent, highlights from football and men’s basketball, Purdue cheerleading team's national championship win, Purdue Contemporary Dance Company performance, Grand Prix, commencement including honorary degree for NASA astronaut and alumnus Andrew Feustel on the International Space Station, and the birthday celebration for John Purdue.
