Inaugural Conference for Associate Professors set for March 21-22

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence in collaboration with ADVANCE Purdue and the Office of the Provost will hold the Inaugural Conference for Associate Professors on March 21-22. The conference is titled "Strategies for Maintaining Momentum to Advance from Associate to Full Professor."

The conference will comprise a keynote address, panel discussion and workshop around the topics building collegiality, addressing climate concerns and being more influential within the university and the profession. Over the course of the conference, there will be opportunities to network, share information, and learn from others in ways that will enable women associates to accelerate their progression to full professor. Although this conference emphasizes women associates, the strategies and insights offered by the keynote speaker, panelists and in the workshop will be useful for all women pursuing academic careers. Men are welcome to participate.

* Keynote: "Beyond Tokenism: Inclusive Excellence & Institutional Transformation" by Carmen Gonzalez, professor of law, Seattle University School of Law.

* Panel Session: "Strategies for Building Collegiality and Addressing Climate Concerns" with Dulcy Abraham, professor of civil engineering; Andy Hirsch, professor of physics; and Karen Plaut, the Glenn W. Sample Dean of the College of Agriculture.

* Workshop: "Maintaining Momentum and Increasing Influence After Tenure" by Rena Seltzer, president of Leader Academic.

Purdue faculty attending the conference, even if only the keynote, must register. Registration, which must be completed by March 13, is available here.
