Benefitfocus again available to employees

Employees can now access the Benefitfocus enrollment tool to enroll in benefits as a new employee, make changes due to life events, adjust health savings account contributions or view current benefit elections.

Benefit changes will be allowed retroactively, even if the 30-day window has been exceeded. Temporarily, the window is being increased to 90 days to allow time to catch up from the conversion. 

Additional key points:

• New employees will have 90 days from their hire date to complete their enrollment. Emails will be sent this week to new employees hired Nov. 15 and after.
• Anyone needing to register a life event also will have 90 days from the event date to make changes to their current benefits. Benefitfocus is making the adjustment over the next few days for this extension, and this will be communicated as soon as it is completed. Those who are still within their 30 days window can record their life event now. 
• HSA changes will take one to two pay periods before the change is effective.
