Policy update

The following new and revised policies were approved through the University's policy approval process for an effective date of Jan. 1.

Conflicts of Commitment and Reportable Outside Activities (III.B.1): Revisions to this policy include clarification of what constitutes a reportable outside activity and replacing the standing committee with an ad hoc appeals committee.

Individual Financial Conflicts of Interest (III.B.2): Revisions to this policy include clarification of required disclosures and aligning the procedures with current processes.

Leaves of Absence (VI.E.2): Revisions to this policy consolidated three policies into one. Refer to the Dec. 5 article on leave changes for details. 

Overload Compensation (VI.C.4): This new policy supersedes Executive Memorandum No. C-40. It clarifies the appropriate use of overload compensation and adds reporting and monitoring channels.

Temporary Employment: This new standard outlines the parameters for appropriate use of temporary appointments. It supports the terms and conditions of employment policies.

Terms and Conditions of Employment of Postdoctoral Researchers, Clinical Residents and Clinical Interns (VI.F.13): This new policy supersedes portions of Executive Memorandum No. B-50 as they relate to the referenced employee types. It aligns the terms of employment more closely with those of staff members, including the requirement to use offer letters when engaging an individual in employment.

Terms and Conditions of Employment of Staff (VI.F.5): Revisions to this policy include updated definitions for the new job family structure in SAP SuccessFactors and consolidation of five policies into one.
