MSNBC to bring Battleground College Tour to Purdue on Wednesday

"MSNBC Live" will broadcast from Purdue's West Lafayette campus at 2-3 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 10) as part of its "Battleground College Tour with Katy Tur." The broadcast is one of five that MSNBC will host across the country over the next few weeks.

Due to inclement weather, the location of Wednesday's broadcast has been changed to the Purdue Memorial Union Lounge. Members of Purdue Student Government, campus organizations and student journalists have been invited to share their thoughts and opinions with a worldwide audience on TV and online. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come out and watch and show their Purdue pride.

"MSNBC Live," a topical program that focuses on news of the day with an emphasis on politics, is conducting a tour of several college campuses leading up to the November midterm elections. The goal is not only to offer a deep dive into some of the hotly contested races, but also to get a feel for what students think about the current political climate and learn how they are involved in the political process.

Purdue Pete, the Boilermaker Special and Purdue "All-American" Marching Band's World's Largest Drum will be in attendance, and students from the Brian Lamb School of Communication will gain valuable skills as volunteers assisting with crew needs.

Other universities taking part in the cross-country tour include UCLA; the University of Nevada, Reno; and Clark Atlanta University.

Katy Tur is an MSNBC anchor and correspondent with the NBC family of networks. She wrote the book "Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History," which documented her time on the campaign trail with then-candidate Donald Trump. She is a 2005 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
