For the third year in a row, Human Resources-Benefits is seeking employee input and feedback about the recent benefits open enrollment as well as overall health and wellness offerings at the University. Employees at West Lafayette, Purdue University Northwest and Purdue University Fort Wayne who are benefits-eligible are encouraged to participate in the brief, two-part survey regarding both of these topics. The survey is currently open; all responses are requested by Dec. 21. Employees may also access the survey via the home page of the Benefits website.

“Each fall, employees are offered an opportunity to review and select medical  benefits that best suit themselves and their families, if applicable,” says Candace Shaffer, director of benefits in Human Resources. “Open enrollment is a very important time for our employees, and we want to make sure we provide tools, communications and support that meet the needs of our diverse faculty and staff. We are interested in thoughts about the various communications that are developed and other resources that are provided. In addition, employee perspective on the health and wellness offerings are also requested.”

The University invests in a variety of wellness offerings today, primarily through the Center for Healthy Living, as well as the Healthy Boiler Wellness Program, which currently is in its second year.

“As we continue to focus on overall health and wellness of our Purdue community, employee feedback provides us with a great resource to utilize to determine what we are doing well, what we need to improve on and what we need to add to meet the needs of our employees,” Shaffer says.

“Efforts to keep a healthy workforce can help minimize the medical inflation we have to plan for when setting premiums for employees and for the University,” she added. “We’d like to know what types of additional programming are of interest and how best to provide the resources to our faculty and staff.”

Purdue remains dedicated to ensuring convenient access to health care and wellness opportunities. The survey will provide helpful information that will be used for future planning. All employees who complete the survey will receive an incentive for their participation. To keep employee responses anonymous, upon completion of the survey, participants will be redirected to a separate survey to provide name and campus building to mail their incentive.
