Weekend to offer sports events, Band Day

The spectacle of nearly 2,000 musicians on the field for Band Day at Ross-Ade Stadium will be one of the highlights of a busy sports weekend on the West Lafayette campus. High school bands from across the state will join Purdue's "All-American" Marching Band during halftime of the Boilermakers' game against Eastern Michigan. It's a noon kickoff Saturday (Sept. 8), and it's also Youth Day. Youth tickets (age 18 and under) are available for $5 with the purchase of an adult ticket.

FRIDAY

Women’s volleyball: The Boilermakers host the first day of the Stacey Clark Classic at the Brees Center, Belin Court in Holloway Gymnasium. Matches at 10 a.m. vs Xavier and at 7:30 p.m. vs. Lipscomb, plus matches between guest schools in each session. Tickets: $3-$8; groups of 20 or more, call 765-494-3325. Women's volleyball

SATURDAY

Boilermaker Crossing: Purdue fans can enjoy live music, inflatable games, giveaways and special guest visits from Purdue student-athletes and more at the family-friendly Boilermaker Crossing at 9 a.m. at the Sally and Bob Weist Plaza north of Mackey Arena. The event is free.

Team arrival: Welcome the Boilermaker team to campus as they arrive at Joe Tiller Drive north of Ross-Ade. The event will start at 9:45 a.m. and will feature the Boiler Beats drumline, Purdue Pete and the cheerleaders.

Jazz Tailgate: The Purdue Jazz Band, a part of Purdue Bands & Orchestras, will perform at 10 a.m. at Slayter Center. The event is free.

Thrill on the Hill: The Purdue “All-American” Marching Band, a part of Purdue Bands & Orchestras, will perform a pre-game concert at 10:30 a.m. at Slayter Center.

Purdue football vs. Eastern Michigan (Band Day and Youth Day): The Boilermakers welcome Eastern Michigan for a noon kickoff at Ross-Ade Stadium. Gameday information

Post-game concert: The Purdue “All-American” Marching Band will march shortly after the game to the front of Hovde Hall and perform there.

Women’s volleyball: The Boilermakers host the second and final day of the Stacey Clark Classic at the Brees Center, Belin Court in Holloway Gymnasium. 7:30 p.m. vs. Louisville. Tickets: $3-$8; groups of 20 or more, call 765-494-3325. Women's volleyball
