Registration still open for Purdue employee-hosted Vietnam veterans luncheon

Purdue employees are hosting a veterans' luncheon commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Lafayette National Guard Armory, 5218 Haggerty Lane.

Vietnam-era veterans and their guests can register for the free luncheon, part of a national commemoration honoring the veterans, here. The event is open to Purdue alumni and people in surrounding Greater Lafayette communities.

The keynote speaker will be retired Maj. Gen. Boyd Ashcraft, who was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1964 upon graduation from Purdue. His distinguished 37-year career includes service in Vietnam, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while serving as a pilot with the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron.

Organizers also are still collecting donations to offset the cost of the luncheon. Donations can be made here.
