Purdue will host 2018 Cryo-EM Symposium

Purdue University will host the 2018 Purdue Cryo-EM Symposium, featuring a diverse lineup of experts from around the globe, on Nov. 6-8 at the Shively Club in Ross-Ade Stadium. The pre-registration deadline for the symposium is Aug. 31.

Organized by faculty in Purdue’s Department of Biological Sciences, the 2018 Purdue Cryo-Electron Microscopy Symposium will cover topics in cryo-electron microscopy spanning sample preparation, data collection, image processing and other aspects of cryo-EM, as well as the biological implications observed from this cutting-edge technology. Speakers also will discuss recent advancements within the cryo-EM community.

Richard Henderson, the 2017 Nobel laureate in chemistry from the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, will serve as the keynote speaker for the symposium. Henderson has made significant contributions to the scientific community throughout the years, which have earned him a variety of accolades and recognition in academia. More about Henderson and the full lineup of symposium speakers is available online.

The symposium will begin with registration and a reception at 4 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 and will conclude at 4 p.m. Nov. 8. The cost of the symposium is $120 per person. Meals are included. Space for the event is limited, and all guests are asked to fill out a pre-registration form that can be found here. Once the pre-registration information is submitted and reviewed, the organizing committee will send out invitations via email the first week of September.
