Purdue Online Learning accepting proposals for online course development

Purdue Online Learning, formerly Digital Education, is accepting proposals through Oct. 12 for a funded program to support faculty in the development of new online versions of courses for West Lafayette undergraduate students.

Purdue Online Learning and ITaP's Teaching and Learning Technologies provide financial, pedagogical and technical support for the development and teaching of online courses to increase access to key courses that undergraduate students need to graduate. POL is interested in supporting high-demand undergraduate courses that serve large numbers of students in a variety of majors. The complete updated course selection criteria is available online.

The course development cycle generally requires about 16 weeks. Courses developed in this cycle should be available to students in Summer 2019, Fall 2019 and/or Spring 2020. POL will subsidize instruction of new courses for at least three academic terms (not including summer) with a possibility of extended support for courses that fill an access need effectively.

Instructional designers from TLT will guide and assist interested instructors and departments through the process from creating learning objectives to assessing students with the most advanced tools available for online education.

POL encourages faculty who are unsure about developing online courses for the upcoming academic terms to contact the group to discuss options, challenges and benefits associated with teaching in a different modality.

More information and an online application are available here.

Questions may be directed to Jim Pukrop, associate director of undergraduate online programs with Purdue Online Learning, at jpukrop@purdue.edu or 765-494-4479.
