Nominations and applications sought for vice provost for diversity and inclusion

The Search Advisory Committee for the position of vice provost for diversity and inclusion is inviting nominations and applications both within Purdue and from outside the University. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit names of outstanding candidates and to engage in the on-campus interview process. The position summary can be found on the website of the Office of the Provost.

The University seeks a thoughtful and energetic leader with a broad vision for the role of diversity and inclusion in achieving institutional excellence. Reporting to the provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity, the position is envisioned to be full-time within the University administration; an affiliated faculty appointment is possible depending on candidate qualifications.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellence in administration and a record of providing strategic vision and leadership; the ability to build successful teams; and accomplishments in leading institutional initiatives, building programs, and promoting diversity and inclusion in a complex organizational setting. The vice provost for diversity and inclusion will have an informed understanding of research and best practices around campus diversity and inclusion. Experience working in a decentralized academic environment with demonstrated success in strengthening diversity and inclusion through proactive recruitment, training and change management will be critical to success.

Nominations and applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but for fullest consideration, applications should be received by Sept. 1. Applications and expressions of interest should be accompanied by a cover letter, curriculum vitae and the names of five references. Cover letters should address how the candidate’s experience and qualifications have prepared them for the role. Materials should be submitted electronically in confidence to Purdue_VPD&I@divsearch.com.  For further information, please contact Kim M. Morrisson, senior managing director, or Euris Belle, managing director, at Diversified Search, 2005 Market St., Suite 3300, Philadelphia, PA 19103, or call 215-656-3579.
