Purduettes picnic at Slayter Picnic with the Purduettes

Imagine a glorious early evening in early fall, your own scrumptious picnic on a blanket, and the delightful harmonies of the Purduettes, Purdue's all-female vocal ensemble. Or just go to Picnic with the Purduettes and take it all in. The campus calendar offers plenty worth taking in. Don't Miss It!

SEPTEMBER 5

The drama "Mother of the Dark Water" will explore archetypal issues as five black women take up the interpretive challenge of Black Madonnas to Christianity and feminism. 7 p.m. STEW, Fowler Hall. Free.

SEPTEMBER 6

Mind your peas and cukes. The Purdue Farmers Market continues on Thursdays through October at 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the north end of Memorial Mall. SEPTEMBER 9

Picnic with the Purduettes, an annual early fall tradition, will combine outdoor air and delightful harmonies from the women's vocal ensemble. 6 p.m. Slayter Center. Audience members are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on and a picnic to eat.

Guerrilla Girls are coming to discuss their three decades of using gorilla-masked humor and outrage to expose gender bias, ethnic bias and corruption. 7:30 p.m. STEW, Loeb Playhouse. SEPTEMBER 15

Global Fest in West Lafayette will feature performers brought by Purdue Convocations to the main stage at Columbia Street and Chauncey Avenue -- the Séamus Egan Project bringing Irish music at 7 p.m., and Orquesta el Macabeo dishing up danceable Puerto Rican salsa gorda and beyond at 9 p.m. Free.
