PPRI and PEGASAS to co-sponsor 'The Future of General Aviation' panel

Discovery Park's Purdue Policy Research Institute and PEGASAS, the Partnership to Enhance General Aviation Safety, Accessibility and Sustainability, will co-host a panel discussion titled "The Future of General Aviation" on May 23.

The panel discussion will take place at 8:15 a.m. in Wilmeth Active Learning Center’s Hiler Theater. It is free and open to the public.

Discussion will include future significant changes to general aviation, such as converging technologies in electric propulsion, automation and autonomy and connectivity.

The panel will be moderated by Dmitri Mavris, Regents Professor, Boeing Professor of Advanced Aerospace Systems Analysis and Langley Distinguished Professor in Advanced Aerospace Systems Architecture at Georgia Tech. Panel members will be:

* Greg Bowles, vice president of global innovation at policy, General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

* Mel Johnson, deputy director of the policy and innovation division, Federal Aviation Administration.

* Jack Pelton, CEO and chairman of the board, Experimental Aircraft Association.

* John Uczekaj, president and CEO, Aspen Avionics.

The panel discussion is the kickoff event for the PEGASAS 2018 annual meeting. The remainder of the annual meeting, which will include presentations and posters about PEGASAS projects and a reception, requires registration.

PEGASAS is a Federal Aviation Administration center of excellence for general aviation. The mission of PEGASAS is to enhance general aviation safety, accessibility, and sustainability by partnering the FAA with a national network of world-class researchers, educators and industry leaders.

The event is co-sponsored with the Polytechnic Institute and College of Engineering.
