LON‐CAPA workshop coming to Purdue

The LON‐CAPA Consortium, in cooperation with ITaP's Teaching and Learning Technologies, will host the annual LON‐CAPA Workshop and User Meeting on May 31-June 2 at Wilmeth Active Learning Center.

LON‐CAPA is a learning management platform used worldwide to deliver content and assessments.

"It is a powerful system in its abilities to handle STEM content and efficiently generate dynamic assessments," says David Huckleberry, a member of the Purdue LON-CAPA Advisory Panel. "It can be extremely effective in online education, due to its ability to expand beyond the capabilities of a typical LMS and work with proctoring technologies to maintain integrity.

"Since 2008, LON-CAPA use at Purdue has grown to 28 courses and over 12,000 students per year, at a tremendous cost savings to students and productivity and pedagogical gains to faculty."

Sessions on May 31 will offer an introductory look at LON‐CAPA for prospective users and new users. The June 1-2 sessions will focus on the future of the LON‐CAPA platform, practical intermediate and advanced techniques, and presentations from member institutions on how they are using LON‐CAPA. Conference registration includes dinner sessions, where attendees can network with other users and share information on their use of LON‐CAPA in their courses.

Because Purdue is the host university, Purdue faculty and staff may attend for free but still must register. For more information or to register, visit the event website.
