'60 Minutes' to highlight University Innovation Alliance

The University Innovation Alliance, a leading national coalition of public research universities committed to increasing the number and diversity of college graduates in the United States, will be featured on Sunday's (April 29) episode of "60 Minutes." Purdue University is one of the 11 members of the UIA, which launched in 2014, and President Mitch Daniels serves on the UIA board.

UIA members are working to regain America’s economic competitive edge by helping more students graduate with a high-quality and affordable education. Members do this by broadening participation in higher education and implementing proven programs that significantly improve graduation rates for all students regardless of socioeconomic background.

The 11 members of the alliance are Arizona State University, Georgia State University, Iowa State University, Michigan State University, Oregon State University, Purdue University, The Ohio State University, University of California, Riverside, University of Central Florida, University of Kansas, and University of Texas at Austin.

Since its founding, the 11 campuses have producing 25 percent more low-income graduates per year -- nearly 6,000 additional graduates annually. By 2025, members are on track to produce an additional 100,000 graduates across the alliance.

"60 Minutes" airs at 7 p.m. ET. Check local listings for more information.
