Speaker on public affairs to appear in BCC Cultural Arts Series

A veteran news columnist and author on public affairs will speak Wednesday (March 28) as part of the Black Cultural Center's spring Cultural Arts Series.

Jason Riley, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, will speak about "False Black Power" at 7 p.m. in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. Riley also has served as a Wall Street Journal columnist and a Fox News commentator.

Riley, a frequent public speaker, writes opinion pieces on politics, economics, education, immigration and race, among other subjects. In 2008 he published "Let Them In," which argues for a more free market-oriented U.S. immigration policy. His second book, "Please Stop Helping Us," published in 2014, examines the track record of government efforts to help the black underclass. His most recent book, published in June, is titled "False Black Power?" and offers an assessment of race relations in the Obama era.
