Sears Lecture Series to focus on international policing of drugs

The Louis Martin Sears Lecture Series will present Ethan Nadelmann this week speaking on the international policing of drugs and the international politics of crime control.

The lecture is set for 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 28) in the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Nadelmann has been called “the real drug czar” by Rolling Stone magazine because of his work and advocacy on drug policy reform. He is a major proponent of drug policy reform in the United States and around the world. Nadelmann is the founder and former director of Drug Policy Alliance and served as policy advisor to national and foreign elected officials, philanthropists and organizations. He has authored many academic and popular books and articles on the criminalization of illicit goods and the internationalization of law enforcement.

Nadelmann's talk comes as part of this spring semester’s Sears Lecture Series, which focuses on geopolitical topics surrounding borders and governments’ efforts to control cross-border flows.
