Purdue to initiate dean search for Graduate School
Jay Akridge, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity, has announced the start of an internal search for the next dean of Purdue's Graduate School.
“The Graduate School is the central resource for more than 11,000 students pursuing advanced degrees within the Purdue system,” Akridge says. “The successful dean will work closely and collaboratively with our academic colleges, the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships and our regional campuses in leadership and support of graduate education at Purdue.”
Linda Mason is currently serving as interim dean of Purdue’s Graduate School, beginning her appointment Aug. 1, 2017.
Members of the search advisory committee for the next Graduate School dean are:
* Ragu Balakrishnan (chair), the Michael and Katherine Birck head/professor of electrical and computer engineering, College of Engineering.
* Tom Atkinson, associate dean of the Graduate School.
* Joy Colwell, director of graduate studies and professor of organizational leadership and supervision, Purdue University Northwest.
* Zenephia Evans, director of the Science Diversity Office, College of Science.
* Marcela Martinez, president, Purdue Graduate Student Government.
* Kathryne Newton, associate dean for graduate programs, Purdue Polytechnic Institute.
* David Schoorman, associate dean for executive education and global programs, Krannert School of Management.
* David Skalnik, associate dean for research and graduate education in the School of Science, IUPUI.
* Carol Sternberger, associate vice chancellor for academic programs and director of graduate studies, IPFW.
* Dorothy Teegarden, associate dean for research and graduate programs and professor of nutrition science, College of Health and Human Sciences.
* Nicole Widmar, associate professor of agricultural economics, College of Agriculture.
* Chris Yeomans, head and professor of philosophy, College of Liberal Arts.
The search for the new dean of the Graduate School will begin immediately.
