Kids cooking classes offered for the Purdue community

The Demonstration Kitchen at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center will offer cooking classes for kids on Saturdays this spring. The classes will teach valuable knowledge and life skills, including basic culinary skills, food safety information and how to make healthy food choices.

Classes will be held at 10-11 a.m. for 5- to 8-year-olds and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for 9- to 12-year-olds on the following dates:

Feb. 3 -- Hungry for Hungarian, featuring Potato Pierogis, Hungarian Paprika Chicken, Roulade Cake.

March 3 -- French Foods, featuring Mini Quiche Lorraines, Chicken Cordon Bleu Roll Ups, Crepes.

April 7 -- Dreaming of Japan, featuring Homemade Miso Soup, Onigiri Rice Balls, Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream

A child is eligible if the child's family is affiliated with Purdue. Membership at the center, known as the "Co-Rec," is not required, but eligibility for membership is. Sign-up should be done in advance at the Member Services desk or by calling 765-494-3109, and registration must be made by the Friday before each session. The cost is $10 per session.
