Faculty members invited to apply for Big Ten program in developing academic leadership

Purdue faculty members are invited to apply for the Big Ten Academic Alliance Academic Leadership Program. The deadline to apply is March 19.

The committee is an academic consortium of Big Ten universities. The leadership program is designed to develop the leadership and managerial skills of faculty who have demonstrated exceptional ability and administrative promise.

Nominees for the upcoming program must electronically submit a complete curriculum vitae, an applicant letter of interest, a letter of support from one’s department head endorsed by the dean.

Applicants can apply by submitting nomination materials to Marion Ragland in the Office of the Provost at officeoftheprovost@purdue.edu.

Purdue will competitively select as program participants up to five tenured faculty members, who will attend three seminars for two and a half days on the various participating campuses. Purdue's fellows meet at least twice a month with administrators on Purdue’s campus to learn about various administrative functions.

The program will be in its 30th year next fall and is specifically oriented to the challenges of academic administration of major research universities and to the preparation of faculty members to meet those challenges.

Individuals interested in applying should feel free to contact the previous fellows for additional input regarding the Big Ten Academic Alliance ALP program. A panel of Purdue's former ALP fellows will recommend this year's fellows to the Office of the Provost, who will then select the fellows. The office will announce its selections in mid-April.

A roster of all of Purdue’s current and former Big Ten Academic Alliance ALP fellows and more information about the program can be found on the Big Ten Academic Alliance pages of the Office of the Provost website.
