Alexander Field, the home of Purdue baseball, combines an engaging facility, competitive play and interesting promotions to offer an authentic environment. Softball's nearby Bittinger Stadium does the same. Everyone wants to connect with authentic sources of experience, and these historic ballpark sports, like concerts or exhibitions, meet that standard for many folks. Don't Miss It!

MARCH 19-23

An exhibition and an event connect to a poem, specifically "Cadaver, Speak" by Marianne Boruch, professor of English and renowned poet. The exhibition shows artworks in response to the poem; a reception with gallery talk is at 4:30-6:30 p.m. March 20 in Pao Hall. And Purdue's Medical Humanities Collective will blend dance into a reading of the poem at 7:30 p.m. March 22 in STEW, Fowler Hall. Details

MARCH 23

Photographer Aida Muluneh will visit as her "Aida Muluneh: The Memory of Hope" exhibition continues telling stories and raising questions about people, cultures and nations. Two events: 1) Artist's talk at 3 p.m. in Matthews Hall, Room 210. 2) Reception at 5:30 p.m. at Fountain Gallery, 330 Main St., Lafayette. Exhibition (This exhibition continues through March 31.)

Jazz Jam will spotlight the vibe of Purdue's jazz bands. 8 p.m. STEW, Loeb Playhouse. Purdue jazz

MARCH 23-24

Ethan Lipton and His Orchestra Ethan Lipton and His Orchestra

Ethan Lipton and His Orchestra will return to Purdue for separate shows on two days -- on Friday, "No Place to Go" will present cabaret theatre about the anxieties of the middle-class workplace. At 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, "The Outer Space" will take a detached, wry look at what concerns those on Earth have. Organizer: Purdue Convocations. MARCH 26

Exhibition opening: "Luke O'Sullivan: Viewfinder" will bring playful sculptures and prints depicting imagined places beneath cities and landscapes. Through May 5. STEW, Robert L. Ringel Gallery. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday plus until 8 p.m. Thursday (except holidays). Exhibition. Reception with artist's comments at 5:30 p.m. March 27.

MARCH 31

Phenomena, the student-run rock concert from Purdue Musical Organizations, is back and bursting with energy once again. 7:30 p.m. Elliott Hall of Music. Free.

"A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder," according to critics, tons of laughter and a Tony Award, has pumped life back into the Broadway musical. 7:30 p.m. Elliott Hall of Music. $. Event

"World Without Us" from the extraordinary Belgian theatre collective Ontroerend Goed uses monologue to evoke a planet from which humans suddenly have vanished, enabling a new biological path. With post-show discussion. 8 p.m. nightly. STEW, Loeb Playhouse. $. Event

APRIL 13-21

Purdue Theatre will stage "Clybourne Park" by Bruce Norris, a social satire that draws on the situation in "A Raisin in the Sun." Directed by Amy Lynn Budd.
