Boilerfest at the Black Cultural Center is a celebratory new student orientation to which the campus is invited. It offers music, food, fun, and performances by BCC performing arts ensembles. 4-6 p.m. BCC parking lot. BCC

Sept. 3 vs. Dayton at 1 p.m.

Aug. 25-26 brings the traditional Mortar Board Premier with six games arranged in three sessions of two games each.
• Friday early session: 10 a.m.: Purdue vs. Oral Roberts. Noon: Alabama vs. Cleveland State.
• Friday late session: 5:30 p.m.: Oral Roberts vs. Alabama. 7:30 p.m.: Purdue vs. Cleveland State.
• Saturday session: Noon: Cleveland State vs. Oral Roberts. 3 p.m.: Purdue vs. Alabama.

Picnic with the Purduettes is a true appeal to the senses -- fine music, the grassy slope of Slayter Hill, and a great chance to bring yourself a nice picnic and sit on your elegant or colorful blanket. 6 p.m. Slayter Center. Details

SEPTEMBER 15

Rhiannon Giddens will bring vocals, banjo, fiddle and more to perform roots and R&B music on "The Freedom Highway Tour." 8 p.m. STEW, Loeb Playhouse. $. Details

SEPTEMBER 16

Global Fest 2017 will include acts brought by Purdue Convocations. The fest will run noon-10 p.m. at Columbia Street and Chauncey Avenue (Morton Community Center area). Music, dance, crafts, food from cultures around the world. Free to attend. Global Fest
