Digital Education accepting proposals for online course development

Digital Education is accepting proposals now through Sept. 29 for a funded program to support faculty in the development of new online versions of courses for West Lafayette undergraduate students.

Digital Education provides financial, pedagogical and technical support for the development and teaching of online courses to increase access to key courses undergraduate students need to graduate. DE is interested in supporting high-demand undergraduate courses that serve large numbers of students in a variety of majors. To see the complete updated course selection criteria, visit the website below.

The course development cycle generally requires about 14 weeks. Courses developed in this cycle should be available to students in Summer 2018, Fall 2018, and/or Spring 2019. DE will subsidize instruction of new courses for at least three academic terms with a possibility of extended support for courses that fill an access need effectively.

Instructional designers will guide and assist interested instructors and departments through the process from creating learning objectives to assessing students with the most advanced tools available for online education.

DE encourages faculty who are unsure about developing online courses for the upcoming academic terms to contact DE to discuss options, challenges and benefits associated with teaching in a different modality.
