Data Dive competition to be hosted by ITaP and Krannert center in conjunction with Dawn or Doom

Information Technology at Purdue and Krannert School of Management's Business Information and Analytics Center are organizing a Data Dive competition as part of the 2017 Dawn or Doom conference.

In this competition, interdisciplinary student teams will analyze a data set provided by Cisco Systems and generate business insights toward a specific data analytics problem that Cisco wants to address.

Teams will analyze the data, create a PowerPoint presentation and make a video recording of the team presenting its analysis and recommendations. The top eight teams will present their findings to a panel of judges consisting of senior executives.

The first-place team will receive $3,000, the second-place team will receive $2,000, and the third-place team will receive $1,000.

The data dive is open to all full-time Purdue undergraduate and master’s students. Every team should consist of three to five members and must include a minimum of one Krannert student and one non-Krannert student.

A callout and Q&A session will be held at 6-9 p.m. Monday (Aug. 28) in Rawls Hall, Room 3082. Free pizza will be provided.

The registration deadline for the data dive is Sept. 1. The analysis is due Sept. 15 and presentations followed by a reception and awards ceremony will take place on Sept. 27.
