Purdue Motorsports hosted the high school evGrand Prix and M-STEM3 student fair Tuesday (May 16) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi stopped by the student fair to share the important role science, technology, engineering and math played in his win last year.

Students also got to see STEM in action at the evGrand Prix. The race consisted of 20 karts built by high school students from around the state. Students not only had to build the karts, but they had to gather sponsorship, manage travel logistics and community outreach.

A photo gallery of both events is available here.

The evGrand Prix and M-STEM student fair are part of Purdue’s MSTEM3, Motorsports STEM for Manufacturing and Medicine, program that is designed to spark students’ interest in STEM fields by taking advantage of Purdue’s location near the “Racing Capital of the World.”
