WBAA to host membership drive in March
WBAA, public radio from Purdue, will begin a weeklong spring membership drive on Friday (March 3) with the goal of adding 200 new members.
The news, classical and jazz stations will begin the campaign with a 60-minute “Power Hour” at 7 a.m. The hour will be the only time the station is fundraising that day.
Licensed in 1922, WBAA is Indiana’s longest continually operating radio station and will celebrate 95 years of service in April. Today, WBAA broadcasts news, classical and jazz on AM, FM, FMHD2, online at wbaa.org and on mobile devices with the WBAA app.
"Over the past year, WBAA has made significant investments to its public radio service, including the addition of 105.9 FM serving Greater Lafayette with NPR news and information," says Mike Savage, general manager of WBAA. "Greater Lafayette and Purdue are vibrant communities that support public radio and we need to hear from everyone tuned in, especially new listeners, to help support this vital community service. With significant change in Washington affecting Indiana and the Purdue community, listeners have emphatically told us that NPR and comprehensive local news coverage is needed now more than ever."
Because of the importance of local news, Savage says, "WBAA is reaching out to new listeners to become members as well as those who have been listening for a long time but have not have joined the WBAA family."
The spring membership drive runs through March 10. Donations can be made by calling 765-496-1999 or online at wbaa.org.
WBAA is a listener-supported service of Purdue University and a charter NPR member station.
