Nominations sought for Susan Bulkeley Butler Distinguished Lecture

The Office of the Provost in partnership with the Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence is seeking nominees for the inaugural 2017 Susan Bulkeley Butler Distinguished Lecture.

This award will recognize women faculty who have made significant contributions to their respective academic communities. This award is the only distinguished award for scholarship that cuts across all Purdue campuses and disciplines and is awarded to one scholar per year in areas of discovery, learning, and/or engagement.

To be eligible for the distinguished lecture, the individual must be a tenured woman faculty member who has made significant contributions to their discipline. Nominees may come from any department, school or college within the University.

The individual selected for the distinguished lecture will receive a monetary prize in addition to a plaque, to be presented by the director of the Butler Center. At the conclusion of the lecture, a formal reception will be held for all attendees.

Nominations must include a letter of nomination from the nominee’s department not exceeding two pages, a complete curriculum vitae, and two letters of support from external faculty.

Nominees will be judged by a panel of distinguished faculty and members of the Office of the Provost on the quality and impact of the nominees’ scholarship (in discovery, learning, and/or engagement), as demonstrated by publications, awards, showcases for artistic endeavors, and/or grants, and on their commitment to sharing scholarly contributions.

Nominations should be made here and are due Feb. 13.

Notifications will be sent in March to all those nominated, including the award recipient. The distinguished lecture is scheduled to take place at 3-5 p.m. April 10 at Dauch Alumni Center. All are welcome to come and celebrate.
