International Scholar Research Symposium showcased world-class research at Purdue

The recent International Scholar Research Symposium showcased the work of 26 international scholars from 11 different countries. Hosted by the Office of International Students and Scholars, the symposium highlighted the contributions the international scholars and their research are making to Purdue University and the world.

Robert Cox, senior associate dean for globalization at Purdue Polytechnic Institute, spoke on the importance of the research these scholars are doing and the cultural significance the international population brings to the University.

The world-class research being undertaken by international scholars at Purdue was showcased in poster format at the March 8 event. Three winners were chosen:

* First place: Ana Brandao Campos Fonseca Pinto, in Veterinary Clinical Sciences and home institution of University of Sao Paulo.

* Second place: Nuur Hamad Zahonero, in School of Languages and Cultures and home institution of Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

* Third place: Yuichiro Watanabe, in Chemistry and home institution of Yamagata University.
