Purdue Ag to hold 'When Science Becomes News' discussion

Purdue Agriculture will hold a panel discussion on "When Science Becomes News" at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 18) in Pfendler Hall, Deans Auditorium (Room 241).

From disappearing bees, to GMOs, to industrial hemp and water quality, scientists can help media and the public understand research on controversial issues. Purdue faculty will discuss what happens when science becomes a trending topic.

The panelists are:

* Bruce Hamaker, the Roy L. Whistler Chair of the Department of Food Science and Distinguished Professor of Food Science.

* Ian Kaplan, associate professor of entomology.

* Ron Turco, assistant dean and professor of agronomy.

The discussion is open to Purdue students, faculty and staff. The program is part of the Purdue Agriculture Issues Engagement Initiative.
