COACHE town hall meeting recording and work group summaries online

Faculty input is requested before Nov. 27 on the recommendations from three faculty work groups on initiatives related to the results of the 2015 COACHE survey. A recording of the town hall held on Nov. 7 and summaries from the work groups are online for faculty to review.

Questions and comments can be sent to coacheresponse@purdue.edu. There also is an online Qualtrics survey available here.

Peter Hollenbeck, vice provost for faculty affairs, and Jessica Huber, professor of speech, language, and hearing sciences, and provost fellow for faculty affairs working on the COACHE program, will compile a summary of the comments and develop a draft of recommendations for Provost Deba Dutta. Faculty work groups will provide input on those recommendations. Final recommendations will be provided to the provost before the end of the fall semester.

The town hall meeting allowed teams of associate-level, women and underrepresented minority faculty to share their insights and recommendations in these areas:

* How does Purdue improve communication, transparency and fairness at the department level?

* How does Purdue improve recognition for the contributions of associate-level faculty and clarify the process for promotion to full professor?

* How does Purdue increase opportunities for recognition and advancement of women and underrepresented minorities and promote inclusion of women and underrepresented minorities in decision-making across the university without increasing their workloads?
