WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mike McCurry, co-chair of the Commission on Presidential Debates and former White House press secretary to President Bill Clinton, was featured Wednesday (Sept. 7) during a special installment of Purdue’s Presidential Lecture Series at the JW Marriott in Washington, D.C.

Purdue President Mitch Daniels, also a member of the Commission on Presidential Debates, led the hourlong discussion, “Election 2016 and the Intersection of Politics and Policy,” which touched on subjects ranging from the two-party system, the criteria for participating in U.S. presidential debates, and the role of a press secretary in a potential Trump presidency. The event marks the first time the Presidential Lecture Series, which was launched in 2014, was hosted off-campus.

The Presidential Lecture Series is a diverse series of lectures on policy, leadership, culture and society. Past guests include columnist George Will, NPR reporter Mara Liasson, best-selling author Harlan Coben and Papa John’s Pizza founder and CEO John Schnatter.
