Human Resources creates additional resources related to FLSA changes

On May 18, the Department of Labor published final regulations updating the Fair Labor Standards Act that raise the minimum salary for an employee to be designated as exempt from $23,660 per year to $47,476. The new rules go into effect Dec. 1, and the University has been working diligently to prepare for implementation.

Updated Frequently Asked Questions have been added to the project website at www.purdue.edu/flsa, as well as a brief video that provides an overview of the FLSA and the changes.

Purdue is committed to implementing a solution that recognizes the varied needs of the University community while ensuring compliance under federal law. Subject matter experts have come together to discuss timekeeping, payroll processes, IT solutions and more to ensure that fair yet compliant decisions are made and clearly communicated to the campus community.

Please continue to monitor Purdue Today and the above website for additional communications to supervisors, affected employees and payroll and business office staff, as well as training opportunities.

Questions not answered by the FAQs on the website can be directed to flsahelp@purdue.edu
