WebCert migration announced

Purdue will be migrating WebCert, an online application used by faculty and staff to take certifications, due to changes with the program's current platform.

Cold Fusion, the platform that supports WebCert, will no longer be supported and will be decommissioned by Dec. 23. A project team has been established to review and develop the best avenue for the current certifications housed in WebCert. Existing technology will be used, such as PREMIS (registration system used campus-wide) and Blackboard Learn (a virtual learning environment and course management system used campus-wide) as part of the new WebCert application.

Migrating WebCert to a newer application is only one part of the transition. Currently, ITaP is the steward of WebCert and Cold Fusion. The new application will be transitioned to the Organizational Effectiveness team within Human Resources. To learn more about the Organizational Effectiveness team and view its current training responsibilities, visit the Employee Training and Development website.

This transition provides a great opportunity to review and re-evaluate WebCert standards, says Kevin Vedder, senior director of organizational effectiveness, who will be leading the project team. The team has evaluated current certifications according to the criteria, and WebCert content owners have been notified of the next steps concerning their specific certification in WebCert. Migration will be completed before Sept. 30.

Additional information will be provided via email communications to WebCert content owners. Questions or concerns should be directed to Vedder at kav@purdue.edu or 494-7137.
