Human Resources provides overview of proposed FLSA changes

There are major changes expected to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in 2016. The Department of Labor has proposed changes that would raise the minimum salary for an employee to be designated as exempt. Employees who are currently exempt (excluded from overtime requirements) may potentially be affected by these changes.

The DOL may publish final FLSA regulations sometime from May to July; from there, Human Resources anticipates having 60 days to implement the necessary changes and comply with the new regulations.

To provide employees with information about the proposed changes, Human Resources has prepared an overview and frequently asked questions, and additional information will be shared as it becomes known. Questions can be directed to hr@purdue.edu.
