The Why Give? Initiative: Students educating students about philanthropy at Purdue

Today through Friday (Feb. 15-19), as part of Student Engagement and Philanthropy Month, the Purdue Foundation Student Board (PFSB) will be spreading the word about the impact of private giving.

For the entire week, members of the philanthropy-focused organization, who also serve as ambassadors for "Ever True: The Campaign for Purdue University," will be around campus promoting the Why Give? Initiative. Created by the students for students, Why Give? is a weeklong initiative highlighting the value and significance of private giving at Purdue University through interactive games and events hosted by PFSB.

"We want to share the story of the opportunities and resources made possible at Purdue because of the generosity of alumni and friends of the University," says PFSB member Trevor Lear, a master's student in engineering. "Since less than a third of Purdue's operating budget is covered by tuition, private giving is essential to fulfilling the University's goals of excellence and affordability. The Why Give? Initiative exists to show students how invested our alumni, and others, truly are in the future of the University and of Boilermakers everywhere."
