Forum to focus on competency-based and three-year degrees

The Purdue Polytechnic Institute and Brian Lamb School of Communication are conducting a public forum to discuss competency-based and three-year degrees.

The forum will be 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday (March 9) in Purdue Memorial Union, Room 118. The event is free and open to the public. A recording of the event will be available online after the forum concludes.

Presenters include Jeff Evans, interim associate dean of undergraduate programs in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute; Amy Van Epps, associate professor in Purdue Libraries and faculty fellow in the Polytechnic Institute; Marifran Mattson, department head in the School of Communication; and Josh Boyd, associate professor and director of undergraduate studies in the School of Communication. They will focus on competency-based and three-year degrees for their respective programs and structural changes to help students graduate on time or even a semester early.

The event will give an overview of the collaboration among the School of Communication, others in the College of Liberal Arts and Purdue Polytechnic. It also will focus on the ongoing efforts in Purdue Polytechnic to incorporate more liberal arts into technology education.
