CIE introduces new intercultural learning blog
May 6, 2014
The Center for Instructional Excellence has introduced a new study abroad and intercultural learning blogging site for faculty and students to submit blog posts and discuss intentional intercultural learning assignments relating to their study abroad experiences.
The goal of the discussion blog (http://globalpurdue.weebly.com) is to provide a quick and efficient place for faculty and students to share ideas, discuss the assignments they use on study abroad and to learn from each other.
The discussion blog is part of the CIE's Intercultural Learning 101: Study Abroad toolkit at www.purdue.edu/cie/learning/global/toolkit/index.html. The resource provides assignments for faculty to adopt or revise to fit their needs to facilitate intercultural learning before, during and after study abroad, based on the Purdue embedded core outcome of intercultural knowledge and competency.
Current discussion blog threads include the questions:* "What assignments associated with intentional Intercultural Learning will you be doing before, during or after your study abroad trip?"
* "Which assignments from the tool kit did you utilize and in what ways did you modify or improve the tool kit assignment?"
* "What non-tool kit assignments did you use and where do you suggest they place on the AAC&U Intercultural Knowledge and Competency VALUE Rubric?"
