Purdue’s annual Spring Fling appreciation event for faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees will kick off at 11:30 am Thursday (May 21) on and around Memorial Mall.

Various activities will be set up on or near the mall, including cornhole and ladder toss; karaoke; a wellness experience; and the Bloodmobile, which will accept walk-in donors and those who schedule an appointment online. Bingo will be located in Stewart Center, Room 214. View the event map or the Spring Fling nonregistration events webpage for more details.

Lunch will be served at the food tent beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Spring Fling coordinating committee requests that individuals take only one lunch as carry-out options will not be available.

Spring Fling attendees can enter the drawings for door prizes by printing out the entry ticket, completing it, bringing it to the event and depositing it at the information table by 2 p.m. Winners will be notified Friday (May 22) via email or phone.

Because of the high volume of traffic expected during the event, drivers and pedestrians should use caution while traveling on campus. To accommodate all visitors, most campus parking will be relaxed during the event. ADA and metered parking will still be monitored.

All staff members can attend Spring Fling without loss of pay, vacation or personal leave, according to university policy. To facilitate Spring Fling attendance, Human Resources offers the following guidelines:

  • Attendance is covered in “worked regular” pay status for staff attending during normally scheduled work hours.
  • Temporary staff can attend as work schedules permit but not in pay status.
  • Staff scheduled on the evening or night shifts and those not normally scheduled to work May 21 are invited to attend.
  • Staff members are not expected to return to work if one hour or less remains in their workday.
  • Staff on vacation or sick leave on May 21 should remain on such status for the day. Regular pay status is not applicable for such staff.
