Save the date: No-cost, preventive mammogram screenings are available in mid-June
Purdue University is again partnering with Franciscan Health Breast Center Lafayette to increase the university’s mammogram screening rate and support preventive care.
This no‑cost screening mammogram supports the physical health pillar of the Your Path Wellness Program and helps make preventive care more accessible for eligible employees and their families.
“Our annual screening mammogram campaign emphasizes the importance of early detection as a key part of preventive health,” said Candace Shaffer, associate vice president of benefits and payroll in Human Resources. “We are encouraged by the continued engagement from our eligible faculty and staff, and family members when applicable, and look forward to seeing screening participation grow as we work toward our best‑in‑class goal of an 85% screening rate, our benchmark for population health.”
Benefits‑eligible employees at the West Lafayette location and their spouses who are covered under a Purdue health plan are eligible to register for a screening. Priority registration will be given to individuals who have not received a screening mammogram in two years or more. The screening is available to females only.
Purdue’s health plans, administered by AmeriBen in conjunction with Anthem Inc., cover preventive (nondiagnostic) screening mammograms for females ages 40 to 70. Individuals age 39 or younger are encouraged to speak with their healthcare provider about when to begin mammogram screenings and how often to receive them.
Screenings will be provided at Franciscan Health Breast Center Lafayette, 1701 S. Creasy Lane, Cancer Center Suite 200, Lafayette, on the following dates:
- June 17: 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
- June 18: 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
- June 19: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- June 20: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
To support participation, Purdue will provide up to 90 minutes of paid time off, with supervisor approval, for employees who choose to take advantage of these screenings.
Employees or covered spouses may register for an appointment by calling Franciscan Health Breast Center Lafayette at 877‑233‑2774 by June 10. Phone registration is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Callers should specify the Lafayette location and request a screening mammogram. Registrants will be screened to ensure they are appropriate candidates. No individual participant information will be shared with Purdue.
