Spring Fling registration now open; volunteers sought to help during event

Spring Fling, the appreciation event for faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees, is set to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 25 on and around Memorial Mall. Registration for events and volunteer opportunities is now open.

Many volunteers are needed to help make the event a success, and the Spring Fling committee is inviting employees to register to volunteer online. Those who sign up will receive a Spring Fling T-shirt and three additional entries for door prizes.

Volunteers will be assigned responsibilities like setting up and tearing down tables, chairs and tents; refilling food items; blowing up balloons; assisting event attendees at the information table; and picking up trash. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. May 17, and volunteers will be contacted before the event with their time slot and task.

A staff appreciation entry postcard has been mailed to employees. To enter drawings for door prizes, employees must bring the postcard to Spring Fling and deposit it at the information table by 2 p.m.

The golf outing on the Ackerman-Allen Course is $50. This rate includes 18 holes for golfers walking with a pushcart. To reserve a tee time, call 494-3139, ext. 1. Times are expected to fill up quickly and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Purdue staff IDs will be checked as players check in.

Registration for the three-mile, noncompetitive fitness walk will be open until 5 p.m. May 17. Participants can begin the walk between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., and all walkers must be finished by 3:30 p.m.

Bingo, disc golf, yard games, fitness classes and the bloodmobile will not require registration.
