PUPD to offer free active threat training on May 30

As part of an outreach effort for the campus community, this month, the Purdue University Police Department is offering free, in-person training classes for potential active threat events.  

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, or CRASE, classes will be held May 30. The class provides strategies, guidance and plan options for surviving an active threat event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options and preparing in advance what your response will be.  

CRASE was designed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training in 2004. 

The sessions on May 30 are:

• 9:30-11:30 a.m.
• 1:30-3:30 p.m.
• 5:30-7:30 p.m.

These are duplicate sessions, so only register for one.

The training will be held at the Dauch Alumni Center, 403 West Wood Street, in the Prusiecki Banquet Room.

Affiliation with Purdue is not required to register; however, priority will be given to Purdue faculty, staff, students and affiliates.

In addition to the CRASE classes, PUPD offers community outreach events throughout the year, including verbal de-escalation training.
