The 2023 Hadley Lecture, hosted by the Management and Professional Staff Advisory Committee and scheduled for April 19, will feature Bill Johnson, a student success navigator and life design catalyst in the School of Health and Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
The presentation, titled “Designing a Great Life With Purpose,” is set for noon-1 p.m. ET and will take place virtually via Zoom. Registration is required, and registrants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. All university staff are welcome to attend with supervisor approval.
Johnson has served in student success roles ranging from academic advisor to assistant dean of students at five different institutions: the University of Delaware, College of New Jersey, College of William and Mary, Davidson-Davie Community College and University of North Carolina Greensboro.
He has created two business ventures related to student success: the Dream Big Institute and the Life Design Institute. Johnson developed the Life Design Catalyst Training Program to train educators to use tools and resources to help students become the best version of themselves and inspire hope for a better future. Since 2014, the program has trained more than 1,000 individuals from over 150 college and universities, businesses and nonprofits.
Questions for Johnson can be emailed in advance to mapsac-pd@purdue.edu. This discussion will be moderated to minimize interruptions during the event.
The Hadley series is named for Richard A. Hadley, a Purdue alumnus and past Purdue employee who was a founding member of the Administrative and Professional Staff Advisory Committee. Hadley was a senior mechanical engineer at Purdue for almost 25 years before his death in 1993. The Hadley series is presented each spring and is intended to provide career enrichment for university staff members.
The series is supported by the Richard Hadley Memorial APSAC Fund for Staff Development. Gifts to that fund, including gifts on the Purdue Day of Giving, will help continue the series.
